MYRTLE BEACH ? The state of S.C. is offering emergency rental assistance to low-income seniors aged 60 and older.
The program is for short-term assistance only, but can help seniors temporarily by providing rent that will be sent directly to the property owner or landlord.
To be eligible, an applicant must be at least 60 years old, rent or lease in S.C. and have a gross household income at or below 150 percent of current guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Applications are available online at www.aging.sc.gov, but it is recommended that applicants seek assistance from a regional specialist at their Aging and Disability Center. If you need help locating the center nearest you, call 1-800-868-9095.
Contact STEVE JONES at 444-1765.
