The Main Reason Why Self Improvement Will Be Crucial To Doing ...

Posted on February 8th, 2012 PalmaShanon898

In case you attempted and failed at many things on top of business online, you should examine yourself closely. People who are successful in business share a core set of attitudes and psychological elements. Accomplishment becomes more difficult the instant you remove one or more of them. Furthermore, if you not only removed some of them but also increased the severity in a negative direction, then those challenges will become worse. We all have our personal challenges that we live with, but those are the greatest obstacles to success in many areas including business.

How we interact with the real world is the sum result of our experiences and routines that developed out of them. Most people that have low self-esteem, for example, develop it early in life. Your behavior is more than likely the same because of this negative early experience. Your self-image, or your frame of mind, is typically filtered through this concept of low self-esteem. In fact, you may have very negative results, especially in your pursuit of a successful business. Failure in your business may be the byproduct of low self-esteem and a sense of not being worthy. Most people do not realize that they are sabotaging themselves and keeping success from their lives.

The level of self sabotage that you experience may even lead to a self-preservation mechanism that activates if it becomes too great. Fear of doing well in business is a real fear that many experience as they journey toward success itself. The person consciously decides to start a business on the net, and then actively works toward success. But the closer that person comes to achieving success, the fear of the very thing they are trying to attain becomes a problem. That person will unconsciously begin to engage in self sabotage. The behavior that manifests from this frame of mind may destroy a person?s business in uncountable ways.

The majority of people who try to make money online fail because of one major fear. The fear of making mistakes will usually produce either no effort at all or a stunted effort. Too much caution can lead to many types of problems in business, and most of them involve ineffective marketing. To have a successful business it is important to be cautious, but you must run advertising tests to find what works. However, there is a time when all indications point to moving forward, and that is when holding back will produce diminished returns. The only path to overcoming this particular fear is to make mistakes and then accept them and keep going.

To succeed in business , you need a plan to follow that works for you, and fits your personality. A self improvement plan will show you what you need to work on, but it is up to you to decide if it is a worthwhile thing to do.

If you want added information on diabetes there?s plenty of information not outlined in this post, vist Author?s blog to locate more.

Fasting Plus Chemo May Help in Cancer Fight: Study (HealthDay)

WEDNESDAY, Feb. 8 (HealthDay News) -- Fasting, especially when combined with chemotherapy, appears to slow the growth of cancerous tumors in mice, new research suggests.

Experts note that the results of animal studies often don't hold up when tried in humans.

However, researchers have started testing whether fasting can help human patients with breast, ovarian and urinary tract cancer.

In the mouse study, published in the current issue of Science Translational Medicine, researchers found that fasting slowed the growth of growth of breast cancer, melanoma, glioma and human neuroblastoma in mice.

In some cases, fasting was as effective as chemotherapy, according to the study.

"The combination of fasting cycles plus chemotherapy was either more or much more effective than chemo alone," senior study author Valter Longo, a professor of gerontology and biological sciences at the University of Southern California, said in a university news release.

Researchers said that normal cells deprived of nutrients during fasting enter a dormant state, whereas when studied in the lab, a type of cancer cell attempted to keep growing and dividing.

That, in turn, led to a "cascade of events" that damaged the cancer cells' DNA and led to cell death.

"A way to beat cancer cells may not be to try to find drugs that kill them specifically but to confuse them by generating extreme environments, such as fasting, that only normal cells can quickly respond to," Longo concluded.

The study authors noted that results from the initial phase of a clinical trial, which involved patients with breast, urinary tract and ovarian cancer conducted at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, have been submitted for presentation at the annual meeting of the American Society of Cancer Oncologists. This trial tested the safety of short-term fasts two days before and one day after chemotherapy.

"We don't know whether in humans it's effective," Longo said. "It should be off limits to patients, but a patient should be able to go to their oncologist and say, 'What about fasting with chemotherapy or without' if chemotherapy was not recommended or considered?"

The researchers warned that fasting may not be safe for all cancer patients, particularly those who have already lost a significant amount of weight or have other conditions, such as diabetes. They added that fasting can cause headaches and a drop in blood pressure. The study also pointed out that cancer-free survival resulting from fasting may not extend to large tumors.

According to the American Cancer Society, "available scientific evidence does not support claims that fasting is effective for preventing or treating cancer. Even a short-term fast can have negative health effects, while fasting for a longer time could cause serious health problems."

US, Japan closer to moving many Okinawa Marines (AP)

TOKYO ? Japan and the United States agreed Wednesday to proceed with plans to transfer thousands of U.S. troops out of the southern Japanese island of Okinawa, leaving behind the stalled discussion about closing a major U.S. Marine base there.

The transfer, a key to U.S. troop restructuring in the Pacific, has been in limbo for years because it was linked to the closure and replacement of the strategically important base that Okinawans fiercely oppose.

The announcement Wednesday follows high-level talks to rework a 2006 agreement for 8,000 Marines to transfer to the U.S. territory of Guam by 2014 if a replacement for Marine Corps Air Station Futenma could be built elsewhere on Okinawa.

That agreement has been effectively scuttled by opposition on Okinawa, where many residents believe the base should simply be closed and moved overseas or elsewhere in Japan. More than half of the 50,000 U.S. troops in Japan, including 18,000 Marines, are stationed on Okinawa, taking up around 10 percent of the island with nearly 40 bases and facilities.

The two governments said in a joint statement that the transfer of thousands of U.S. Marines to Guam would not require the prior closure of Futenma, as the original pact required. Details of the realignment will be discussed further, but about 10,000 troops will remain on Okinawa, as in the original agreement.

Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba told a news conference that he hoped the progress on the realignment plan would help the two countries step up deterrence in the Asia-Pacific region. He also said Tokyo and Washington would continue efforts to eventually close Futenma.

Progress on the issue is important to the United States, which is revising its military and diplomatic posture in Asia ? in what is being called the "Pacific Pivot" ? to reflect the rising power of China and increasing tensions over territorial disputes throughout the region.

Washington is also under pressure to make the most of its resources as budget cuts loom in Congress with combat operations are ending in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Wednesday's statement was vague on specifics of what lies ahead. But senior Japanese officials have said 4,700 Marines will be transferred to Guam. The remaining 3,300 would reportedly rotate among Australia, Hawaii and the Philippines.

Pentagon press secretary George Little said from Washington that talks would continue with both sides working on mitigating the impact on Okinawa, developing Guam as a strategic hub and maintaining an effective U.S. military presence in the region. He also said discussing troop numbers and locations was premature as the bilateral talks continue.

Tokyo is hoping the reduction of troops on Okinawa will ease opposition and demonstrate its desire to stand by promises to reduce the island's share of the troop-hosting burden. Officials say they remain committed to closing Futenma, which the U.S. and Japan agreed to do after the 1995 rape of a schoolgirl by three American servicemen led to mass protests.

"We decided to choose to reduce Okinawa's burden as much as possible rather than being stuck in a stalemate by sticking to an earlier package," Gemba said, stressing Tokyo's effort to serve Okinawa's interest as much as possible.

But Okinawa Gov. Hirokazu Nakaima gave a mixed response. He welcomed the agreement to move ahead with the Marines' relocation and a return of some of the bases as serving "Okinawans' desire to reduce the U.S. military presence," but repeated his rejection to move Futenma to another location on the island.

"A relocation without local consent would be impossible. We want Futenma moved out of Okinawa," Nakaima said in a statement.

The most likely replacement site, on a less crowded part of the island, is widely opposed on Okinawa and its viability remains a heated political debate.

Guam, meanwhie, has pushed hard for the troop buildup because of the potential economic boom.

"We are the closest U.S. community to Asia. We are very patriotic citizens. And unlike many foreign countries and even some U.S. communities, we welcome an increased military presence," Gov. Eddie Calvo said in a statement last week.

Guam, which is being built up to play a greater role in Washington's Asia-Pacific strategy, could also stand to get far fewer Marines than expected if the new plan goes through. The tiny U.S. territory had been counting on a huge boost from the restructuring plan, and may have to revise its forecasts.

But officials said the revised number could be more manageable.

A smaller contingent of Marines would alleviate concerns on Guam that the swelling military presence would overwhelm the island's infrastructure and environment.

Mark G. Calvo, the director of Guam's military buildup office, said the territory has been briefed by the Department of Defense about the talks with Japan and supports the transfer, even if it is smaller than expected. He said the idea of reducing it to about 4,000 Marines had been discussed after an environmental impact assessment two years ago pointed to possible problems.

"There are concerns about a loss of economic benefits, but it puts us in a better position to adjust our infrastructure," he said.

Teaching Children the Standing of Goal Setting - Education ...

Your belongings have been loaded into the car for your first ever cross-country trip. A little while into the trip you need to check the map because you?ve reached an intersection you?re not familiar with. You suddenly panic, because now you can?t find the route map. You recollect the directions given and keep on going. Unfortunately, you never reach your destination but land up going in circles. Too many of us treat goal setting the same way. We dream about where we want to go, but don?t have a map to get there. The first thing about a distorted goal is a distorted or no plan. Provided below are a few points that you need to know about setting goals:

1. Ensure the goal you are working for is something you really want, not just something that sounds good: In the process of setting goals it is very important to remember that your goals must be consistent with your values.

2.

A goal should not contradict with any of your other goals. For example, if you earn 1500 rupees a month, you can?t afford installing a dish antenna, with your first salary. This is called non-integrated thinking and will sabotage all of the hard work you put into your goals. Non-integrated thinking can also hamper your everyday thoughts. We should continually strive to eliminate contradictory ideas from our thinking.

3. Specific goals work best at bringing about a change, Instead of saying,? I'm going to do more for the environment" say, "I'm going to install a solar panel and recycle all my plastic bottles, soda cans, and magazines or for a new home,? think specifically like? ?A 4,000 square foot contemporary with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths and a view of the mountain on 20 acres of land "

4.

Allow time for changes to set in and don?t be impatient. For example: To wake up early everyday, your brain needs time to get used to the idea that this new thing you're doing is part of your regular routine before it can become part of your habit.

5. Remind yourself of what you want and what you're working for. This way, you are actually training your brain to make it happen.

6. Be responsible for your goal. You must accomplish it not only because your mother or father desired it, but because you feel about it just as much.

7. Look around potholes and jump over obstacles on your way.

8. Think and write out your goal in positive: Your subconscious mind is a very efficient tool, it can not determine right from wrong and it does not judge. It only carries out instructions given to it very much like a robot. The more positive instructions you give it, the more positive results you will get.

9. Review your goals daily in the positive.

10. Visualize your goal.

11. One last thing every decision taken should take me closer to, or further from my goal.

If you follow this process everyday you will be on your way to achieving unlimited success in every aspect of your life.

Reforming Legal Immigration

Jennifer Wedel (an ?avid Republican?!) got the drop on President Obama the other day by asking him why, with so many American engineers like her husband unemployed, he wants to import even more engineers from abroad. Obama responded that industry tells him there?s a ?huge demand? for engineers around the country, and that she should send her husband?s r?sum? to the White House.

The Republican National Committee has leapt at the opportunity, launching a site called Not Better Off, highlighting the weak job market during the president?s tenure and urging people to send him their r?sum?s.

Libyan Sufis mark Prophet's birthday despite tension (Reuters)

TRIPOLI (Reuters) ? Libyan Sufis staged a joyous parade through the heart of Tripoli on Saturday to mark the Prophet Mohammad's birthday, defying radical Salafi Muslims pressuring them to scrap the centuries-old tradition.

Chanting hymns to the beat of drums and cymbals, marchers choked the narrow alleys of the walled old town to celebrate the feast of Mawlid, a favorite event for the pious Sufis whose spirituality is an integral part of North African Islam.

The celebrations were the first since the fall last August of Muammar Gaddafi, who kept religion under firm control during his 42-year dictatorship, and went ahead despite concerns that hardliners might attack the marchers as heretics.

The tension between the traditional Sufis and the Salafis, a group influenced by Saudi Wahhabis and other ultra-conservative foreign Islamists, has become a key divide in Libyan politics as parties begin to form to contest free elections in June.

"We fought the tyrant (Gaddafi) because he was a dictator and we don't want anyone like him to govern us again," said biology teacher Mohammad Aref. "We are the majority."

Emhemed Elashhab, the sheikh (Islamic scholar) at one Islamic school where marchers assembled, said there were fewer than 2,000 violent Islamists in Libya. "All normal people are against their ideas," he said.

EITHER BATS OR THIEVES

Sufism, a mystical strain among both Sunnis and Shi'ites, dates back to Islam's early days. Apart from the standard prayers, Sufi devotions include singing hymns, chanting the names of God or dancing to heighten awareness of the divine.

Sufis also build shrines to revered holy men and scholars and make pilgrimages to them. Hardline Islamists consider these practices grave sins that must be stopped, by force if needed.

One night last month, extremists bulldozed through a wall of an old cemetery in the eastern city of Benghazi, destroyed its tombs and carried off 29 bodies of respected sages and scholars. They also demolished a nearby Sufi school.

"The extremists have taken advantage of the lack of order," said Jamel Abdul Muhi, a Sufi in Tripoli. "Those who work in the dark are either bats or thieves. They are cowards."

In Benghazi, hundreds of Sufis marched to a main square flanked by 30 armed militiamen for security. Jumaa Mohammad Al-Sharif, an Islamic school teacher, said the procession was also a protest against last month's grave desecrations.

"We caught some people who destroyed the zawiya (Islamic school) and disrespected the graves and handed them over to the authorities, but we were surprised when we later learned they had been released," he said.

Hisham Krekshi, deputy chairman of the Tripoli Local Council, expressed satisfaction the march was taking place peacefully despite concerns about reprisals from hardliners, who spread pamphlets in recent days urging people to shun the event.

"This has been around for 14 centuries, you can't stop it," he said in one of the main souks, where the gold traders and cloth merchants had shut their shops for the day.

INCENSE AND ALMOND MILK

Festivities in Tripoli began with Sufi devotions in traditional Islamic schools in the old town. At Zawiya Kabira, the largest one, men chanted rounds of rousing hymns in an incense-filled room while other distributed almond milk and biscuits to those outside.

Boys lit firecrackers as lines of men danced out of the school and down the alleys, with women watching from balconies and doorways as the procession passed.

"Beloved Prophet of God, be the enemy of all His enemies," was one of the slogans they chanted in Sufi-style repetition.

At one point, marchers spilled out onto Martyrs Square, the old Green Square where Gaddafi used to address his supporters.

Najat Al-Mughrabi, waiting with other women at a corner to watch their sons march by, said she was not afraid of the extremists. "They couldn't do anything before (under Gaddafi), how can they do anything now?" she asked.

Even if the Mawlid holiday passes without incident, Sufi leaders say they remain concerned because many post-Gaddafi religious officials have Salafi leanings and have been appointing like-minded imams to mosques around the country.

Salafi preaching is also widespread on Libyan television and radio, they say, which raises concerns among Sufis that they are being outflanked by a new and more political form of Islam.
