Springfield College men's volleyball bows to Estonia in first match at World University Games

The Springfield College men's volleyball team, representing Team USA, played a competitive match, but was swept 22-25, 17-25, 18-25 by Estonia Saturday in its first competition at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.

Luisa Vega led Springfield with 10 kills and two blocks while Ryan Quesenberry contributed six kills and two blocks. Jimmy Leary added four kills, and Nick Ferry stood out on defense with nine digs.

Estonia's roster was comprised of 10 members of its national team, and two from its junior national squad.

Springfield, which has won two consecutive NCAA Division III national championships, is the first Division III team to represent the United States at the World University Games.

The Pride faces Belarus Sunday at 10 a.m.

In the 2012 male-stripper movie "Magic Mike," there's a scene that involves Joe Manganiello's character and a certain bit of technology that male strippers might do well to have handy. In an interview with Elle magazine, "Magic Mike" star Channing Tatum admits that scene came straight from his own days as a male stripper in Florida.

When quizzed on whether Manganiello's penis pump scene was autobiographical, Tatum tells Elle, "Of course! You?ve gotta get it where you can get it, man."

Tatum went into more detail about the inspiration for the scene last year in an interview with MTV. "I went up and did this stripper convention once in the Carolinas and there were these guys that I didn't quite understand how they were doing what they were doing," Tatum told MTV. "And then I saw something in the back ... while other dudes weren't paying any attention and they like were talking ? this other guy was just like kinda (using the pump) and I was like, 'What is happening back there?' And that's where that idea [for that scene] came from."

Tatum also tells Elle that he likes to slowly strip off his clothes after he gets home from a day on the set, and usually finds himself eventually walking around the house naked.

"I have a really nice back porch where the pool is," Tatum explained. "Once the shoes are off, the socks come off too, and then everything else downstairs just follows at some point."

And the star, who's the subject of many fan crushes, admitted to a childhood crush of his own.

"Alyssa Milano in 'Who?s the Boss?' She was it, man," he said. "I?d love to run into her. I?m pretty sure I?d geek out."

Wildfire cut off Hotshots' access to safety zone

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) ? An erratic wildfire driven by ferocious and shifting winds curled around the location of a team of Arizona Hotshot firefighters, cutting off their access to a safety zone and creating a death trap that quickly consumed them, two fire officials confirmed Friday based on a map of how the tragedy unfolded compiled by The Associated Press.

The map shows that the 19 highly trained Hotshots were just over a quarter of a mile northwest of the safety zone using chain saws, axes and other gear to build a line between the wildfire and the small town of Yarnell on Sunday. But the fire, which was northeast of the team, suddenly changed directions after the winds shifted nearly 180 degrees and cut off their access to the safety zone, a large ranch property.

The AP confirmed the location of the fire crew, their safety zone and the fire's advance based on interviews with people who knew what happened. After building the map, its accuracy was confirmed by Dan Ware, a spokesman for the crews battling the blaze, and Prescott Fire spokesman Wade Ward.

The circumstances of the firefighters' deaths have been known for days but Friday's confirmation offers the most detailed picture about their location and how close to safety they appeared to be.

Officials said the 20th member of the Prescott-based Granite Mountain Hotshots, who served as a lookout for the Hotshot crew and whose exact location during the fire is unclear, was on a hilltop and warned the team that erratic winds had shifted the fire's direction and they were in danger.

The crew had designated a ranch house and its surrounding cleared area as their safety zone, a spot they should be able to reach if things went bad. But the fire moved too fast for them to reach the ranch house, killing the 19 firefighters; the lookout, 21-year-old Brendan McDonough, was able to make it to safety.

A national team of investigators is working to understand more about the firefighters' deaths, visiting the site where they were killed, interviewing McDonough, and examining radio logs and weather conditions. They are expected to release some findings soon, but it will take much longer for a full report.

The lightning-caused wildfire was 80 percent contained Friday, after destroying more than 100 of the roughly 700 homes in Yarnell and burning about 13 square miles.

Fire bosses have begun sending some crews home, and power and gas companies were working to restore service in Yarnell. Residents remained evacuated Friday, but crews were hoping to let them back either this weekend or early next week.

Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake were planning to meet with Yarnell residents on Friday and speak to members of the media afterward.

A memorial service for the firefighters is set for Tuesday, with Vice President Joe Biden expected to attend.

Autopsies of the firefighters showed they all died of either burns or inhalation issues, or a combination of both. Their bodies, in Phoenix for autopsies, are set to be returned home to Prescott on Sunday in a 75-mile procession.

Feds: NY man tried to extort $250K from Paula Deen

ATLANTA (AP) ? Authorities on Friday arrested a New York man charged with trying to extort money from embattled celebrity cook Paula Deen in exchange for not going to the news media with "true and damning statements" he said she made.

FBI agents and local sheriff's deputies arrested Thomas George Paculis, 62, of Newfield, N.Y., Friday morning. A criminal complaint filed Wednesday in federal court in Savannah, Ga., charges him with extortion.

The complaint says Paculis was threatening to go to the media with statements made by Deen unless the former Food Network star gave him $250,000. The complaint does not specify what was in the statements Paculis claimed were made by Deen.

Paculis did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment Friday. A call to a phone number for Paculis found in the criminal complaint rang unanswered. He had his initial court appearance Friday in New York and was released on bond, said FBI Special Agent Stephen Emmett in Atlanta. He has been ordered to appear in federal court in Savannah on July 16.

Deen's business deals began falling apart last month after statements she made when she was questioned under oath in May became public. The questioning was part of a civil lawsuit filed last year by Lisa Jackson, a former manager of Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House, which Deen co-owns with her brother, Bubba Hiers. Jackson says she was sexually harassed and worked in an environment rife with racial slurs and innuendo.

Asked in her deposition if she had ever used the N-word, Deen replied: "Yes, of course." But she also insisted "it's been a very long time."

Paculis wrote an email to Deen's lawyer, Greg Hodges, on June 24, several days after Deen's statements became public, the complaint says. The text of the email is transcribed in the complaint: "I am about to go public with statements refuting your clients statements about using the 'N' word in her business practices at Lady and Son's... The statements are true and damning enough that the case for Jackson will be won on it's merit alone..."

Paculis went on to say "there is a price for such information..." and urges Hodges to contact him by email, the complaint says.

Hodges contacted the FBI to report the email, and the FBI directed him to reply to it. Hodges and Paculis exchanged several emails, and Paculis provided several examples of information that he believed "would damage your client in so many ways that it would sink your ship before it left the dock," the complaint says.

Hodges and Paculis eventually spoke by phone and Paculis said he wanted $250,000 net and didn't want a paper trail, the complaint says. At the direction of the FBI, Hodges negotiated the amount to $200,000. Paculis told Hodges he was house sitting in New York, didn't have a car and didn't know how he was going to collect the money, the complaint says.

FBI agents showed Deen photos of Paculis, and she didn't recognize him or his name.

Paculis also contacted Jackson's lawyer, Matt Billips, on July 1, a few days after he and Hodges had negotiated the price, the complaint says. He wrote in an email that he had pushed Deen's lawyer to the point of giving him money not to go public with his information, the complaint says.

"Now the burning question is...do you want in...I still have the chance to bring this together, but time is slowly running out...I have them hooked, but reeling this sucker in is gonna be hard without help...give me a call..." the email says.

As a crazed chocoholic i am always on the quest for my next hit. I have been a fan of galaxy chocolate for years, its smooth and creamy taste is just so moreish that walking past this chocolate is practically impossible for me to do!

I would love to say that these are a once in a blue moon treat for me, but as they are regularly under offer in my local Tesco for the extreeemely reasonable price of ?1 i am ashamed to say they are not. I think these were designed to be shared, yeah right thats happening...

Now i am not going to lie and say these things are good for your waistline, they are not. One portion of these little pieces of heaven contains 185 calories, and when you have the whole 140g bag like me.....yeah, its alot of calories.

If however you have some restraint (well done you!) the bag actually has a handy peel off sticker on the back which you can use to seal the bag up again and save the rest for another day or whatever. I have NEVER used this!

Now, onto the taste. These counters ( i won't call them buttons) have that silk like creamy texture that galaxy is well known for. I don't know if it is just me but i think the chocolate itself has got alot sweeter in the last few years, it really delivers the taste my sweet tooth craves. I particularly like sucking on a counter until the chocolate melts, yum! They remind me of minstrels but just without the shell, i suppose they are seeing as they are made by the same company.

Whether you are giving yourself a treat, or sharing them out with the family (boo!) these are fab. I take them to the cinema, far cheaper than picknmix, only problem is that they are usually gone by the time the film actually starts.

To sum it up: I LOVE THESE! I just wish they weren't so damn good. I would probably be about 2 stone lighter, but atleast they make me happy.
